The Department of Psychiatric Social Work provides multi-fold services from the social and legal perspectives for treatment and rehabilitation of persons with mental health issues, which includes:

• Taking primary and symptomatic case history focusing social point of view for persons in need of the services.
• Facilitate treatment of the persons through an expert medical evaluation and provision of documentary proof thereof.
• Ensure the extension of other medical health services to the person through referral linkages.
• Trace family members of persons with mental illness including wandering persons with mental disorders.
• Motivate family members to reintegrate the person back in their family/society and provide psycho-social counselling.
• Coordination and linkages with other institutes for rehabilitation of wandering persons with mental health problems including government and private educational institutions, social work institutions etc.
• Educational and recreational activities including library services and celebration of all major national and religious festivals.
• Liaising with individual and institutional donors.
• Prevent exploitation of patients in any form.
